MANAGEMENT TRAINING

Waffle House, Inc. offers a 12-week, step-by-step training program for restaurant managers. That includes program consists of three phases: The Management Training System (MTS), Waffle House University (WHU)

Management Training System (MTS)

The MTS establishes a sense of customer awareness and customer service, to teach production skills, to introduce operational responsibilities, and to prepare the trainee for Waffle House University. Several levels of Waffle House management share responsibility for the trainee's success: Training Unit Manager, Division Manager, Area Vice President, & Area People Director. The Associates in the training unit also have a role to play. They will assist the trainee at every stage in the learning process.

Waffle House University (WHU)

WHU is the gateway through which every Unit Manager must pass. It provides an opportunity for enhanced learning to occur. The four days of WHU are conducted at the corporate campus in Norcross, Ga. and include classes on topics including interviewing, hiring, leading a team, ethics, customer service, diversity awareness and Waffle House business skills. In addition, all WHU participants complete a day-long ServSafe food safety training class.

Continuing Education

Once in a restaurant your learning does not end there. Waffle House, Inc. has several continuing education programs which allow all Management Associates continued career development.

Coach's Clinics provide on-going training for all levels of operations management. Lesson plans may include soft skills, restaurant operations or "hot topics." Clinics are usually conducted as Area-wide gatherings on a cycle of 3 per year.

The Continuing Education Program (CEP) is a series of on-line self-study modules available to all levels of operations management. These modules are designed to enhance job skills at one's current level or to provide preparatory training for those seeking promotion to the next level.

Waffle College is a course of study available to senior managers. It seeks to broaden the general business education of the company's upper most leadership. Courses are typically held at local college campuses and guest faculty is invited to lecture.
